How to Pray Well, by Fr. Raoul Plus, was originally published in 1929 and re-issued by Sophia Press in 2009.  This volume is a handy “manual” of reflections designed, as the author writes in his conclusion, to guide souls,

…to pray better, that is, to give their prayer a wider scope, to appreciate better the principles on which prayer is based, and to understand more exactly what should be our true relations with God.

Personally, I have found the book to be a welcome companion in my time before the Blessed Sacrament. Most chapters are 10-15 pages long and provide plenty of points for meditation and reflection.

Fr. Plus passed away in 1958 and was the author of more than 40 books. Sophia Press has published several titles in addition to How to Pray Well that are also available through Catholic Company.
